And, The Answer Is!

And, The Answer Is!

Forty percent of respondents to a recent survey, including elected officials, incorrectly believed that the US president has the power to declare war, while 54 percent correctly answered that that power rests with Congress.

So, whose fault is the Iraq war? Well, I guess since the power rests with Congress that any mistakes should rest with them as well.

"It is disturbing enough that the general public failed ISI's civic literacy test, but when you consider the even more dismal scores of elected officials, you have to be concerned," said Josiah Bunting, chairman of the National Civic Literacy Board at ISI.

Many have started their gift basket business on a shoe string budget and a spare bedroom. It can take very little money up front to get started. You can make standard or special occasion baskets, and you can also create custom baskets for specific customers. You might want to make sure your baskets are unique, filled with quality items, packaged beautifully, and are a good value for the price. What you decide to charge for a particular gift basket will depend on the type and cost of the basket, the cost of the items needed to fill it, the time spent and level of difficulty in putting it all together, and the cost of filler, wrap, cards, etc.

Gift baskets range in size from small to large. You will want to attract customers across all income levels. Your business will grow if there is something for everyone. You'll most likely want to stick with prepackaged snack foods like popcorn, pretzels, chips and dips such as salsa, nuts, dried fruit, flavored mini hot or cold drinks, cookies, fudge and others. There are occasions where foods are not appropriate. For example, baby baskets include nail clippers, hangers, rattles and bibs. Get well baskets contain puzzles, books, games and sometimes fruit.

You can purchase items in bulk from a local warehouse such as Sam's or a drop-shipper like National Gifts. Creating gift baskets will require some creativity if you make your own. Creating a niche will help boost your search engine rankings and ultimately make you more money. As long as you have the desire, you can start a gift basket business. You don't need any special education or expensive equipment to start from home.

Why Men Are Happier

Why Men Are Happier

Men Are Just Happier People -- What do you expect from such simple creatures? Your last name stays put. The garage is all yours. Wedding plans take care of themselves. Chocolate is just another snack. You can be President. You can never be pregnant. You can wear a white T-shirt to a water park. You can wear NO shirt to a water park. Car mechanics tell you the truth. The world is your urinal. You never have to drive to another gas station restroom because this one is just too icky. You don't have to stop and think of which way to turn a nut on a bolt. Same work, more pay. Wrinkles add character. Wedding dress-$5000. Tux rental-$100. People never stare at your chest when you're talking to them. New shoes don't cut, blister, or mangle your feet. One mood all the time.

Phone conversations are over in 30 seconds flat. You know stuff about tanks. A five-day vacation requires only one suitcase. You can open all your own jars. You get extra credit for the slightest act of thoughtfulness. If someone forgets to invite you, he or she can still be your friend.

Your underwear is $8.95 for a three-pack. Three pairs of shoes are more than enough You almost never have strap problems in public. You are unable to see wrinkles in your clothes. Everything on your face stays its original color. The same hairstyle lasts for years, maybe decades. You only have to shave your face and neck.

You can play with toy s all your life. One wallet and one pair of shoes -- one color for all seasons. You can wear shorts no matter how your legs look. You can 'do' your nails with a pocket knife. You have freedom of choice concerning growing a mustache.

You can do Christmas shopping for 25 relatives on December 24 in 25 minutes.

No wonder men are happier!

Book Review - Acheron

Book Review - Acheron

Acheron by Sherlynn Kenyon

What I've read recently.

"Eleven thousand years ago a god was born. Cursed into the body of a human, Acheron spent a lifetime of shame. However, his human death unleashed an unspeakable horror that almost destroyed the earth. Then, brought back against his will, Acheron became the sole defender of mankind."

"Only it was never that simple. For centuries, he has fought for our survival and hidden a past he’ll do anything to keep concealed. Until a lone woman who refuses to be intimidated by him threatens his very existence."

"Now his survival, and ours, hinges on hers and old enemies reawaken and unite to kill them both."

"War has never been more deadly... or more fun."

I've read all the Dark Hunter books and a big fan of Ash although my favorite Dark Hunter is Kyrian. I also adore the Were Hunter Vane.

This book, Acheron, absolutely rates as one of my favorites.

It is over 700 pages. Even so, it held my attention and I finished the book in three days. All the questions about Ash are answered and although it is graphic in detail and at times a "hard read" it made him the God he is suppose to be. While I think Ash's background is necessary, it could have been a little less graphic and more attention given to the present and his love story.

For those of you who are a series fan, it is a must read. If you're not a fan of the Dark Hunter series, you may want to skip this book.
